if i was to continue with this project, i would restart. The original idea was to have fun puzzles that uses the interaction of top and bottom. After setting up what i did on the first day. Thought it was pretty good.


What's actually happening is that the second player has negative gravity and is essentially sliding on the top of the capsule component. I then have a line trace to check for the ground and enable jumping etc.


Found out later when making interacting elements that the reversed gravity doesn't interact with anything moving. And physics aren't applied. 

To work around this. Either things that move stop when touched it in the case of the vertical moving block, box collisions with timeline, lerps, clamps. I tried to make it convincing.



Too late into the jam to change it so I worked with what i had.

It could have been a really cool idea though and I'd love to return to it one day once of sorted out a proper physics system.


A lot of the features I worked on didn't even end up in the shipped project. Or they're not noticeable.

The characters are actually running on a spline that can wind around objects which would have given them game a lot of depth. But it messed with the shadow AI at certain angles and they would just run off. 

Health system didn't even make it in. Nor did timer.

A few interactive items like bounce pads and slippy slides didn't make it in even though they were coded in.


I did have a lot of puzzle ideas and a second level had started to be worked on but didn't get completed in time. 


I know mostly a complaint post mortem. I have enjoyed the project but I think it's probably time to upgrade to unreal 5 and get a new computer. I did have fun with the concept and idea though


Due to a project corruption on the last day. A few things are not a good as I hoped

There is a few bugs. Unfortunately there is one that soft locks the game. I couldn't get it to reliably fault and looking at the code shouldn't. If the game doesn't start after the intro video, just restart.

The main menu had to be dropped due to editor crashing when opening new level
